Italian striker Alberto Gilardino has joined Fiorentina from Milan, who are set to sign Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o.

The terms of the deal were undisclosed but press reports said Gilardino signed on a five-year contract worth €14 millions.

Gilardino scored 36 goals in nearly three seasons with Milan after joining from Parma.

But he suffered a long dip in form that cost him his place in the Azzurri squad in Euro 2008.

Meanwhile, reports in Italy and Spain say that Milan and Barcelona are on the brink of striking a deal for Cameroon forward Eto'o.

Milan are also interested in landing Italian international Barca's Gianluca Zambrotta.
