Egypt midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou handed in an official request to Strasbourg to annul his contract with the French outfit.

Abd-Rabou's future is far from certain after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that he should leave Ismaili and return to Strasbourg.

But the 23-year-old does not want to be obliged to play for a certain club.

"I'm willing to pay any amount of money to terminate my deal with Strasbourg," Abd-Rabou told FilGoal.com on Thursday.

"I want to be free to choose my destination," Abd-Rabou, who apparently wants to invoke article 17 of FIFA's regulations, added.

The Egyptian FA have asked FIFA to clarify the legal stance of the 2008 Nations Cup best player.

The FA are yet to receive a notification from CAS over their ruling, which came in favor of Strasbourg.

Transfer Problem

Abd-Rabou played for Ismaili during the entire 2007/2008 season but Strasbourg were insistent that he should have been at their disposal.

Ismaili signed Abd-Rabou on a season-long loan in 2006; with a view to a permanent switch should they pay 500,000 euros to Strasbourg after the season's end.

However, the Dervishes failed to pay the money on time, prompting Strasbourg to order the player report for training.

Ismaili held onto Abd-Rabou and, consequently, Strasbourg filed a complaint to world governing body FIFA.

The initial ruling came in favor of Strasbourg in the summer of 2007 but Ismaili appealed before the CAS, who upheld the original decision.
