“I am an ambitious player and hope that by joining an important club like this it will help me to win titles.”

Alves, who is currently on international duty with Brazil, was poised to join the Catalan side in recent weeks as his Sevilla exit was inevitable.

The transfer fee for the pacey winger, who was close to joining Chelsea last year, is reportedly around 30M Euros.

Barcelona have already landed Seydou Keita, Gerard Pique and Martin Caceres this summer, as Alexander Hleb looks to be on his way.
