Bild said that Werder are preparing a 10 million-euro bid but Lyon have asked for 15m-euro to offload their Brazilian marksman.

The 24-year old striker has been in an impressive form since moving to the Ligue 1 in 2004. He scored 32 goals in 70 appearances for the French Champions.

This season, he lost his place to France in-form striker Karim Benzema.

“We must purchase our targets without any rush. Apparently the transfer activity hasn’t started yet,’ Werder’s sporting manager Klaus Allofs told Bild.

The Bundesliga side want to sign a striker as a replacement for the departing Ivan Klasnic.
