German manager Joachim Low had some bad news as midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger was handed a one-match ban by the UEFA after being dismissed against Croatia and star striker Lukas Podolski sustained an injury that could rule him out of Monday’s decider against Austria.

"It's a great pity that Bastian will be missing. Fortunately, it's only for one match ... but he has done us a disservice by getting sent off. I told the players not to get provoked or to react violently," Low told Skysports.com.

The Mannschaft midfielder was shown the red card less than 25 minutes after coming in as a substitute for Mario Gomes.

"The sending off was naturally very frustrating. But after the kick from behind I felt a stabbing pain in my already painful ankle and I reacted badly," the Bayern midfielder told the German Football Association website.

Meanwhile Podolski picked a knock during the game and is very doubtful for Monday’s clash.

"Podolski has taken a knock on the ankle and could not train today. We'll have to wait and see. We may be forced to make changes," said Low.

The German striker has been in an impressive form as he scored 3 goals in two matches to be the joint topscorer of the EURO 2008.
