The 25-year old player has been unveiled in a press conference on Wednesday as the fourth Barcelona summer signing.

"We now have the best player of his position - a full-back but one with an offensive character. He's not just an attacker, but not just a defender, either," Barcelona technical secretary Txiki Begiristain.

Alves produced an impressive performance with Sevilla during five seasons helping them to five titles including two UEFA Cup trophies.

“It is a move from a great club to one that is the same or even better. It is a cause for joy and satisfaction to know that Barça put their interest in me and for me to be able to form part of this new project," Alves said.

The Copa America winner comes to replace Italian winger Gianluca Zambrotta who joined AC Milan a few weeks earlier.
