"Andrei is desperate to join Arsenal," agent Dennis Lachter told the Daily Mirror.

"His style of play would suit them perfectly."

The talented forward has been linked with top European clubs after an impressive showing with Russia in EURO 2008.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona were among the interested parties, as the latter had their £12.5M turned down by the Russian champions.

Lachter also revealed earlier that an unnamed Premiership club offered £19M for the 27-year-old's services, but Zenit rejected that one as well.

Zenit, who won the UEFA Cup impressively last season, are believed to be settled on a £24M price tag for Arshavin.
