Raul scored Real's only goal

Real Madrid captain Raul Gonzalez believes that signing Cristiano Ronaldo would be positive for the team, but is adamant that the Primera Liga champions will remain strong otherwise.

"I see no reason why he would cause problems. I think it could be very positive because we have a great squad, with a lot of big players," he told daily AS.

"It is obvious that if a player of a very high level joined he would be welcome and helped to adapt.

"Our good form will continue whether Cristiano comes or not and at whatever price. Nothing will break up the unity we currently have."

Raul obviously disagrees with teammate Wesley Sneijder's vision that Ronaldo's looming high-price switch could cause unrest inside the Real dressing room.

Ronaldo has been strongly linked with Real over the past couple of months, but Manchester United blocked every attempt from the Spanish giants to grab him.

Another hot shot in the transfer market this summer is Brazilian winger Robinho, who is wanted by United's Premiership rivals Chelsea.

It was believed that Ronaldo arrival at Bernabeu would be accompanied by Robinho's exit, but Real favorite Raul has another view.

"I think Robinho is a truly great player that has improved dramatically here and last year reached a very high level," he added.

"But I also think that Cristiano is a player that everyone would want. He is a great player and is one of the best in the world at the moment."
