Bruckner takes charge of Austria
Former Czech Republic manager Karel Bruckner has been named Austria new coach, the Austrian federation (OFB) confirmed.
"I am glad that we succeeded in signing on Karel Bruckner. He is one of the most experienced national coaches in Europe," OFB chief Friederich Stickler told a news conference.
"He has shown great experience and a good instinct with young players many times. That’s the guarantee that our restructuring and rejuvenation path of the last years will continue."
Ending a successful era with the Czech national team, Bruckner quit his job after the first-round exit from EURO 2008.
The veteran coach was credited for establishing a stylish Czech side, which he managed to lead to every top competition since taking over in 2002.
