Veteran goalkeeper Jens Lehmann enjoyed a warm welcome from the crowd when he took part in Stuttgart's training for the first time.

He caught the attention of fans and journalists alike after stepping onto the pitch to begin a new adventure with the Bundesliga side.

"I had a chance to stay in England, but I joined Stuttgart because this team have quality," Lehmann said.

"Less than a year ago, Stuttgart were the German champions. We should challenge for the top three spots."

Lehmann, 38, left English Premier League side Arsenal following a highly-successful five-year spell with the Gunners.

He considered retirement after his deal with Arsenal expired, but he eventually decided to move to Stuttgart and carry on.
