Robbie Keane has joined Liverpool from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of ₤19M, the Reds said on Monday.

Liverpool's official site said that the Ireland striker has penned a four-year deal at Anfield to be the club's 'biggest transfer of the summer'.

Keane is the fifth player to be lured by Rafa Benitez this summer, following the arrival of David Ngog, Philipp Degen, Andrea Dossena and goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy expressed his frustration with the deal, which he described as an 'enforced sale'.

"I was incredibly disappointed when I first heard, not only that Liverpool had been working behind the scenes to bring Robbie to Anfield, but that Robbie himself wanted to go and he submitted a transfer request to this effect," said Levy.

Keane has been one of the pillars of the London club in recent years, as he formed a lethal partnership with Dimitar Berbatov, who is also linked with Manchester United.
