He believes Milan will benefit from the fact that their primary objective will be winning the Serie A, having missed out on playing in the lucrative Champions League.

"Milan are the favorites for the Scudetto," Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday.

"They are also completely focused on the League. Europe can wait and (coach) Carlo Ancelotti will use his best side in Serie A."

Milan will play in the UEFA Cup, Europe's secondary competition, after finishing fifth in the Serie A last season.

The Rossoneri have strengthened their squad in the close season after signing Ronaldinho, Mathieu Flamini and Gianluca Zambrotta.
