Wigan Athletic coach Steve Bruce heaped praise on Amr Zaki after the Egypt striker scored his second goal in as many games for the Latics.

Zaki made an immediate impact with the Premier League side after joining from Zamalek on a season-long loan. He heavily impressed in pre-season friendlies.

The 25-year-old hitman scored a last-gasp winner as Wigan claimed a 3-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Three days later, Wigan secured a 1-0 win over Scotland's Hibernian, thanks to Zaki's goal in the 70th minute.

Bruce said he was pleased to see the combative frontman maintain his fine start with his team.

"It was good to see Zaki score another goal – it was a great finish and that is what he does best," the English manage was quoted as saying by Wigan Today.

"He comes to life in areas where he thinks he can score a goal. You can see that he's a typical goalscorer who just wants to find the back of the net.

"I'm sure that once he gets himself settled here, gets out of the hotel and finds a place to live, then he will prove to be a very decent signing for us. That's two goals in two games.

"Zaki has scored goals wherever he has been and hopefully that will continue here."

Zaki is expected to make his Premier League debut when Wigan visit West Ham in the competition's opener on August 16th.
