Local based newspaper Tuttosport confirmed that Lazio President Claudio Lotito is in talks with the player's agent in order to strengthen their midfield.

The report suggested that he offered the former Arsenal midfielder $1.6 million per season to bring him at Rome.

Ljungberg, 31, has also been linked with a move to city rivals AS Roma but he declined the offer as he wouldn't be able to secure a starting role.
