Hamburg manager Martin Jol admitted that his side are in need for more signings, only four days before the Bundesliga kickoff.

The Dutchman, who will make his league debut against holders Bayern Munich next weekend, is looking forward to adding more squad depth for the UEFA Cup campaign.

"We are working on some new signings and hopefully it will all work out. I would be really delighted to welcome a new player to the side," he said.

"We have 14 or 15 experienced players and when you are playing in three competitions, you need at least one or two more."

Jol lost influential skipper Rafael Van der Vaart to Real Madrid last week, and HSV are yet to lure a replacement for the talented playmaker.

Egypt forward Mohamed Zidan could be given more room to impress this season, following a disappointing 2007-2008 campaign.
