Ittihad continued their fine run in the Egyptian League after Abdul-Hamid Hassan's late brace gave them a 2-1 away victory over Tersana on Friday.

The Alexandria-based club, who barely escaped relegation last season, heavily improved this term under the guidance of coach Taha Basri.

The win moved them to sixth spot with seven points while Tersana lie 13th on just three points from four matches.

A dull-first half ended goalless, with both sides failing to mount serious threats.

The second half looked as though it would be no different but the match witnessed a turnover in the last 20 minutes.

Tersana, who got off their league campaign to a poor start, led through striker Mohamed Hassib in the 70th minute.

The 25-year-old broke the deadlock through a powerful drive from outside the area.

But Ittihad's veteran striker Hassan, who had a brief spell with Cairo giants Ahli last year, grabbed the equalizer six minutes later.

Despite being guarded by two challengers, Hassan headed home from close range after Reda Metwalli's initial header struck the post.

The 35-year-old old notched the invaluable winner one minute from time when he unleashed a long-range drive that went into the top corner of the net.
