Title holders Inter Milan were held to a 1-1 draw by Sampdoria in Jose Mourinho's first Serie A game in charge of the Nerazzurri.

The Portuguese tactician will have a lot of work to do in order to improve an Inter side which looked nowhere near its best.

A shaky defense and an uncreative midfield cost Inter against a determined Sampdoria side.

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was the only player to impress for Inter, gave the visitors the lead in the 33rd minute.

He exchanged passes with Mancini, controlled the ball well in the area and drilled a precise low shot into the bottom corner.

Striker Gennaro Delvecchio deservedly claimed the equalizer eight minutes past the hour mark.

Inter's full-back Maxwell couldn't prevent Marius Stankevicius from whipping in a fine cross at the far post.

Instead of clearing the danger, Maicon headed the ball into the path of Delvecchio, who caught Dejan Stankovic, his marker, ball-watching to steer home from close range.

Sampdoria could have even secured an unlikely win but Antonio Cassano's sluggishness upfront added a hurdle to their attempts.
