Mesbah clinched the bronze medal after beating France's Yves-Matheiu Dafreville by Ippon in the men's 90kg contest.

It was Egypt's first Judo medal in 24 years and the country's only achievement in a hugely disappointing campaign in Beijing.

"I will do my best to build on my success and do even better in London," Mesbah said in an interview with FilGoal.com on Sunday.

However, the 26-year-old insisted the Egyptian Judo Federation must provide him with sufficient support to enable him succeed in the next Olympic Games.

"We must prepare well. In Judo we have to conduct many training camps abroad."

"The federations must financially back me if I'm to approach the London Olympic Games in the best possible way."

Unconcerned

Mesbah said that appearing in TV shows to celebrate his triumph does not concern him.

He is afraid such euphoria could distract him from focusing on his task of achieving more success.

"In Egypt, there are many examples of post-success failure because of similar exaggerated celebrations."

"I don't want to talk too much about winning the bronze medal in Beijing."
