Italian authorities have decided to ban Napoli fans from attending away games until the end of the season following chaotic incidents that took place before the club's Italian League opener against AS Roma on Sunday.

Some 1,500 Napoli fans caused mayhem within train stations leading to Rome, terrifying regular passengers and demanding free trips to the eternal city. An act, that provoked the Italian government to issue the banning decisions.

"The organized Napoli fan groups are banned from travelling for the rest of the season," Italian Minister Roberto Maroni was quoted as saying by FootballItalia on Tuesday

"We will also identify at risk games and if necessary some of them will be played behind closed doors."

Authorities have already reversed an earlier decision prohibiting sale of tickets to Napoli fans due to the high risk of the Roma game as a sign of good will. However the mayhem caused en route to the game came as the icing on the cake for the Napoli extremes.

"Those people who effectively kidnapped the train were no more than criminals."

"We will identify and punish those responsible, ban them from attending sporting events for two years and proceed to charge them with criminal damage," concluded the Minister.
