The Latics' squad boats a variety of nationalities, most of which find it hard to communicate with one another.

Zaki, the only Arabic-speaking player within Wigan ranks, joined the Premiership side with minimal English knowledge.

But the combative frontman, who impressed since moving to Wigan on a season-long loan from Zamalek, is exerting lots of efforts to enhance his English skills.

"Zaki has only been in the UK for a few weeks but already he has started to understand and speak a lot more English," the club's publicity manager Ed Jones was quoted as saying by Wigan Today.

Jones highlighted the importance of making life easy for Wigan players through hiring professional interpreters.

"Now we have more foreign players coming to the club, it is essential we make sure they have the day-to-day necessities.

"We must trust the interpreters and make sure they are not star struck so can't do their job.

"We make sure they have got accommodation, a car, a bank account, phone, and of course a language teacher.

"The things we take for granted they would find very difficult to sort out with such limited English."
