Sudan suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Chad in the second group stage of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

The Sudanese, who thrashed African champions Egypt 4-0 in a friendly last month, now have no hopes of reaching the World Cup as they also missed out on the 2010 African Cup of Nations.

The game was played in Cairo upon FIFA's orders, due to the ongoing Darfur crisis in Sudan.

Chad leveled on six points with Congo in Group 10, as Mali have the summit with nine points, two games before the end.

Cameroon Through

Cameroon came back from a goal down to beat Cape Verde 2-1 in the qualifiers, ensuring their place in the final group stage.

Second-half goals from Achilles Emanon and David Nkong cancelled out Lito's first-half strike for the hosts.

The Indomitable Lions have 13 points in Group One, four ahead of Cape Verde, who could still go through as one of eight best runners-up.

In Group Nine, Tunisia denied Burkina Faso booking a place in the final round after claiming a goalless draw in Ouagadougou.

The Tunisians, who were beaten at home by Burkina Faso in June, have a good chance of making the final phase with their group rivals as they are currently best runners-up with 10 points. Burkina lead the group with 13.
