Will Mido be able to replace Heskey?

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan admitted that striker Emile Heskey could be on his way out of the team in January.

The England striker's future with the Latics came under scrutiny prior to the recent transfer window deadline, with Tottenham Hotspur showing interest in his services.

Even though Heskey stayed over the summer, Whelan hinted that Amr Zaki's strike partner is still poised to leave in the winter break.

"We don't want Emile to go, but football is football," the Wigan chief told the People on Sunday.

"If somebody pays enough money and Emile wants to go we would never try to keep a player.

"We don't want him to leave and he's happy here, but if anything develops Emile will have the final say."

Rumor has it that Heskey's departure from JJB is linked to the arrival of regular-football seeker Mido from Middlesbrough.

However, Boro boss Gareth Southgate insisted that the club are not willing to let go the Egyptian international.
