Valencia have taken the surgery decision as Silva has been baring pain on his left knee for the last few weeks.

"After the latest tests carried out this morning and a meeting with the coach and players, we have decided to operate on the player. The surgery will take place in Barcelona on Tuesday," read a statement on the Valencia's website.

Silva, who was a Barcelona target during the summer was an integral part of the Spanish team that won the European Championship in Austria/Switzerland in June.
