The Germain tactician made no secret of his frustration towards what he describes as the unfair criticism of Zamalek by the press.
“I don’t know why the press keeps attacking us,” he told the post-match press conference.
“The press did not have such attitude towards me when I was in charge of Ahli many years ago. Why they are acting like that nowadays.
“They should have supported us following our elimination from the CAF Champions League.”
The Cairo giants’ chairman Mamdouh Abbas recently revealed that the club would sue two newspapers for launching a vicious attack on the team’s players.
Limited Options
Hollmann called on the fans to excuse him for Zamalek’s inconsistent results, citing the team’s limited options.
“Today, I had to play without eight players, including the injured Mohamed Aboul-Ella and defender Wissem El-Abdi, who did not take part in the game for disciplinary reasons.”
“The substitutes’ bench included many strikers, but I did not find any recognized midfielders or defenders,” he added.
Zamalek recently reiterated their faith in the 59-year-old boss, who took over at the club in the summer following the resignation of Ruud Krol.
