Roma, who finished second in the league last term, missed the presence of inspirational playmaker Totti due to injury.

But the former Italy international is in line to return to action when Roma face holders Inter Milan after the international break.

"The fans need to stay calm because you will see the old Roma again," Spalletti told the Corriere dello Sport on Friday.

"We still need a little bit of time but Totti will return and make the difference.

"Inter do seem to be superior to everyone else, but we are ready to start fighting like we did last time around."
