The 26-year-old picked up the injury in the 2-1 World Cup qualifiers defeat to Poland, and his absence from Wednesday's clash with Slovenia was confirmed.

"It's not enough time till the next match for him to be 100 percent fit,'' Czech team doctor Petr Krejci said in a statement on the Czech federation Web site.

The Czechs already miss influential playmaker Tomas Rosicky, who is still recovering from a long-term knee injury that kept him out of EURO 2008.

Petr Rada's team are yet to seal their first win in the qualifying campaign, as they have one point from two games in Group 3.
