Brazil playmaker Kaka said that the everlasting flights throughout the week had a major effect on the team's performance against Colombia on Wednesday.

After beating Venezuela 4-0 on Saturday, an exhausted Brazil could only manage a goalless home draw against Colombia in Rio de Janeiro.

"I don’t like to make excuses, but the 15-hour journey from Venezuela to Brazil took its toll on the players," Kaka said after the game.

Despite the defeat, Brazil remain in second position of the qualifiers with 17 points, six behind leaders Paraguay.

It is worth nothing that the first four teams qualify directly to the World Cup, while fifth-placed team plays off against a North/Central American side for the fifth qualifying place.
