Zamalek current boardroom is going to be relieved of its duty on Tuesday, the Cairo giants’ former chairman Mortada Mansour said.

“The court of law will reach the final verdict on the board election issue by Tuesday, which means the temporary board of directors will no longer be in charge,” the people’s assembly former member told Modern TV.

“The Egyptian Higher Council for sports’ decision was to extend Mamdouh Abbas’ stay for one more year or till the returning of the final verdict.”

“Since the final verdict will be pronounced on Tuesday, Abbas-led board would have to step down on the same day, irrespective of whether the court ruled in my favor or not.”

The controversial attorney has appealed against the decision of his Zamalek membership withdrawal, and turning him down as a candidate for the board election.

The decision was made two days before the election’s previous scheduled time, and therefore the Higher Council for sports made allowance and postponed the election.

A committee should be formed in the near future to supervise the anticipated election, and as such it shouldn’t include any of the candidates.

Mansour had separate spells in charge of Zamalek but couldn't stay for long due to his fiery temper which cost him his position on several occasions.

However, he has repeatedly vowed to reclaim Zamalek’s presidency, stressing that he will do his utmost to dethrone incumbent chairman Abbas.
