The Egypt striker believes his stoppage-time goal against Ahli was the most valuable goal to his account with Ittihad so far.
“I scored against Raed and against Watani but this time I was much happier,” he told Abu Dhabi channel.
“Goals in such derbies are always remembered. Moreover, the timing of my strike would give that goal an additional value.”
Three minutes into stoppage time, Meteb precisely controlled a left-wing cross before firing a left-footed volley that went into the roof of the net, despite being under pressure.
Ahli players protested the referee’s decision to allow the goal as they believed Meteb handled the ball while trying to control it.
“The goal is 100% valid. I just chested the cross before finding the back of the net, it was nowhere near my hand.”
Meteb, who joined Ittihad on a season-long loan from Egyptian champions Ahli, took his tally to four goals in the league, just one behind teammate Aboucherouane, who is the competition’s top scorer.
