Harry Redknapp said he was impressed by the displays of fringe players, including Hossam Ghaly, in Tottenham's training.

Ghaly was offered a Spurs lifeline as Redknapp arrived at White Hart Lane a few days ago, with the new coach reinstalling the Egyptian in the first team.

Redknapp enjoyed an excellent start in London, leading the team to their first win of the season, beating Bolton 2-0 last weekend.

"As I said, I was impressed with the quality of our play against Bolton and impressed with the players who weren't even in the team in Monday's training session, they showed me they can play as well," he told the club's official site.

"There is real quality here and if we can get that out of them on a regular basis we'll quickly move up the table."

Tough Task

Tottenham will take on Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, but Redknapp is aware of the quality of his opposition.

"It's a tough task and going to Arsenal is always difficult," he said.

"They have a fantastic team and they pass the ball superbly - but we can do that as well. The way the lads passed the ball around on Sunday impressed me and we've got to do that again.

"You have to keep the ball at Arsenal, you can't afford to keep turning it back over to them and inviting them onto you.

"You have to keep possession and that's what we're working on.

Ghaly is back in contention for the first time this season as he made the preliminary 25-man list for the Gunners game.
