Milan center-half Alessandro Nesta is set to fly to the United States for treatment of a troublesome back injury.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the 32-year-old defender got the approval from manager Carlo Ancelotti to go to Florida, but awaits full permission from the club.
Nesta has been struggling with a protruding disc since July, as he failed to take part in any of Milan's games so far this season.
Milan will have to cope without the veteran defender as it seems unlikely that he will play again this year.
The former Azzurri defender was close to coming back last month when he made it to the bench in a league game against Sampdoria, but failed to progress ever since.
