Mardassi seeks revenge

Etoile Sahel held Tunisian rivals Sfaxien to a goalless away draw in the first-leg of the Confederation Cup final on Saturday.

A fine defensive display from 2007 Champions League winners Etoile saw them restrict Sfaxien to tame efforts.

Etoile could have even scored a valuable goal after 22 minutes

Nigerian striker Emeka Opara, who was deemed doubtful for the game due to injury, went clear on goal but his effort was denied by Sfaxien keeper Jassem Khaloufi.

Sfaxien created a couple of clear-cut chances midway through the second period but Etoile clung on through the remaining minutes to frustrate the title holders.

Etoile are now favorites to lift the trophy when they host Sfaxien in the second leg on November 22nd.
