Real Madrid playmaker Rafael Van Der Vaart insisted that he is not worried about Barcelona's brilliant league form.

The Blaugrana have impressively won their last eight consecutive games, scoring 33 goals and entertaining their fans with breathtaking performances in the process.

On the other side, Real have been suffering inconsistency in both results and displays, and the team's defense have been letting as many as 16 goals in their 10 league matches.

"We have to focus on ourselves rather than worry about other clubs' results. The team is doing well and we'll get better with time," the Dutchman was quoted as saying by Marca.

"It’s hard to explain why we’ve been so inconsistent. We are conceding a lot of goals at the moment, but I think it’s just a bad streak."

Real confidence

Despite losing twice in a row to Juventus in the Champions League, and scraping a hard fought 4-3 win over Malaga on Saturday, Van Der Vaart remains confident about Real's form.

"What we need to do is to stay calm; we will be able to play better if we do. We shouldn’t get nervous because it will only get worse if we did.

"I think we were good in general against Malaga. There's a good understanding within the team and it was reflected on the pitch."

Van Der Vaart showed support for turbulent right-back Sergio Ramos, who was sent off against Malaga.

"Obviously Sergio wasn’t happy about it, but that’s natural. These things happen. We’ve all seen a red card at some time. It was a mistake, that’s all."
