The veteran midfielder, who scored Ahli's opener against Coton Sport in the CAF Champions League final, was replaced in the second half after suffering an injury.

"Shehata will contact Ahli's technical staff to find out what kind of injury Hassan sustained," Egypt assistant coach Shawki Gharib told Ahli TV.

On Saturday, Shehata named a preliminary 17-man squad for the Benin game, as he was waiting for Ahli to conclude their Champions League campaign before announcing the complete roster.

England-based duo Mido and Amr Zaki have been already ruled out of the game due to injury.
