Hossam Ashour believes it will be difficult for any Ahli generation to emulate the success of the current crop of players.

Ahli clinched a record-breaking sixth Champions League title after defeating Coton Sport of Cameroon 4-2 on aggregate.

It was the club's third African title in four years as the Red Devils enjoy a splendid run of form under Portuguese coach Manuel Jose.

"We have made a historic achievement," defensive midfielder Ashour, who has been one of the team's most consistent players recently, told Ahli TV after the match.

"Ahli's upcoming generations would find it hard to emulate such feats."

Long Wait

Ahli's young defender Mohamed Samir is relieved that Ahli made up for their surprising 3-1 home defeat to Tunisia's Etoile Sahel in last year's final.

"Thank God, we managed to erase the painful memories of the defeat against Etoile."

"The triumph came after a long wait. We were eagerly anticipating the Champions League final."
