Genoa striker Diego Milito said that he's delighted to be linked with a January move to Real Madrid.

Alongside Inter's Hernan Crespo and Amr Zaki of Wigan Athletic, Milito's name has been mentioned as a possible candidate to join Real, who're looking for a new striker after Ruud van Nistelrooy was ruled out until the end of the season with a knee injury.

"Of course it's an honor for any player including myself to be linked with Real," Milito was quoted as saying by Marca on Wednesday.

"Anyone would be tempted to play for a club in the caliber of Real. However, I can't elaborate on the issue as no solid offer was made to Genoa."

Milito rejoined Genoa in the summer after establishing himself as one of La Liga's best strikers with Real Zaragoza, where he scored 51 goals in three seasons for the club.

The Argentine also excelled in Serie A since the start of the season, as he leads the league's scoring charts with ten goals.

"I have to say that I'm very happy at Genoa. It's a club really close to my heart," he considered.
