The Egypt playmaker is nominated for this year's top award and his presence in Japan 2008 might shore up his bid for the prestigious title.

However, Treika is just focused on helping his team in the elite competition next month.

"Individual awards are of little importance to me compared to the team's success," the 30-year-old told a press conference on Saturday.

"Football is a team sport; if I succeed it is because of the assistance of my teammates. They are the real stars."

Abou-Treika inspired Ahli in their latest Club World Cup appearance in 2006, when he finished top scorer with three goals in three games.

The Ahli fans' favorite is dubbed to become the competition's all-time leading goalscorer, should he add one more goal to his tally in Japan 2008.

Ahli will face CONCACAF champions Pachuca of Mexico on December 13th in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
