The Cairo giants saw their hopes of competing for the Egyptian League title diminish after a string of poor results.

Despite the club's miserable spell, Zamalek board kept faith with German tactician Hollmann, who was appointed in the summer following the resignation of Ruud Krol.

But their patience has limits, a board source told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.

"Some members said Hollmann should be sacked right now, while others said he should be granted more time to prove his worth," the source, who refused to be named, said.

"But we agreed that if Zamalek do not defeat Hodoud, Hollmann will no longer be the coach."

FilGoal.com learned that Jordan coach Eduardo 'Nelo' Vingada is a frontrunner to take over at Zamalek should the club dispense with Hollmann.

The Portuguese tactician had a successful one-year stint in charge of Zamalek, during which he led them to the 2004 league title.
