Roma and Chelsea have reached the knock-out stage of the UEFA Champions League after beating Bordeaux and CFR Cluj respectively on Tuesday.

The Italian side finished on top of Group A thanks to a 2-0 home victory.

Roma have 12 points, one ahead of Chelsea, who advanced in second place after beating their Romanian guests 2-1.

Bordeaux, third on seven points, will move to the UEFA Cup.

In Rome, the home side broke the deadlock in the 61st minute after Simone Perrotta crossed from the right to Matteo Brighi, who volleyed the ball home.

Captain Francesco Totti sealed the triumph 11 minutes from time with an unstoppable right-footer.

Roma now will compete in the knock-out stage for the third successive season.

In London, Didier Drogba came off the bench to score as Chelsea downed Cluj and booked their place in the round of 16.

Salomon Kalou opened the scoring five minutes before the break but Yssouf Kone's header leveled in the 55th minute.

Drogba was introduced in the 64th minute and the Ivory Coast captain needed only seven minutes to notch the winner after being set-up inside the box by Joe Cole.
