The Bavarian giants reached the competition's knockout stage after finishing on top of Group F, thanks to their victory over French champions Lyon.

Bayern went to the locker room with a stunning 3-0 lead at Stade Gerland, thanks to a Miroslav Klose brace and a goal from in-form winger Franck Ribery.

"We've deservedly finished top of a difficult group, so we’re delighted and a little bit proud," Klinsmann was quoted as saying by Bayern's official website.

"The first half was tremendous. The way we played, with one and two touch football, getting into the box and turning chances into goals, was really first class.

"It was incredibly enjoyable. It was a fantastic first half, top quality football. In the second half, we shifted down a gear and Lyon hit their stride."
