Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky came on as a last minute substitute as Middlesbrough drew 1-1 with Arsenal in the English Premiership on Saturday.

Jeremy Aliadiere's 29th minute header from Tuncay Sanli's cross earned Gareth Southgate's men the point after Emmanuel Adebayor's opener for the Gunners.

The Togolese striker headed Arsenal in front on 17 minutes, after rising to convert Robin van Persie's corner past Ross Turnbull in the Middlesbrough goal.

Middlesbrough were without Egyptian international striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido', who is still missing due to injury.

While the draw leaves Middlesbrough eleventh in the table with 20 points, Arsenal are still fourth on 30.
