Adelaide United have put their 1-0 loss to Gamba Osaka aside and started preparing for their upcoming FIFA Club World Cup game against Ahli.

After slumping to a First Round defeat, the Australian side diverted their attention towards the African champions clash, hoping to secure the penultimate fifth place.

The Oceania champions coach Aurelio Vidmar said his team are keen to make amends for their loss and win their last showdown in the premier competition.

"Now we just look forward to Thursday's game," the tactician told reporters.

"Once again it's another game where we want to do our very best and win."

Last Saturday, the Cairo giants were condemned to a frustrating 4-2 defeat by North American champions Pachuca, who are meeting Liga de Quito in the Semi-Final Round.

Regretful

Ahead of Ahli encounter, Adelaide skipper Travis Dodd rued the clear-cut chances he squandered against Osaka on Sunday.

"We attacked them, we put pressure on them and we created opportunities," he said.

The 28-year-old insinuated that he probably wouldn't waste such chances against other opponents.

"The opportunities I had...they just didn't want to go. Maybe on another night they would have gone in," he said.
