Ahmed Fathi is fit to play in Ahli's Club World Cup tie with Adelaide United on Thursday after recovering from injury.

The 24-year-old was struggling with a groin problem, which forced him to pull out of Ahli's 4-2 defeat to Pachuca last weekend.

However, Fathi trained with the team on Wednesday and is now set to retain his place in Manuel Jose's starting eleven.

The former Sheffield United midfielder has just returned for a serious Achilles injury in last month's CAF Champions League final against Cameroon's Coton Sport.

But he was a regular member of Jose's selection ever since. The Portuguese coach is yet to determine where he will play the versatile midfielder though.
