Ahli coach Manuel Jose said that despite the defeat, he is proud of his players' performance against Adelaide United in the Club World Cup.

The Red Devils finished the competition in sixth place, after receiving their second and last World Cup loss at the hands of Adelaide on Thursday.

"Adelaide didn’t deserve to win," the Portuguese said after the clash.

"My players did well but were unlucky throughout the whole game."

Jose also blamed the Egyptian media for putting too much pressure on Ahli players during their World Cup participation.

"I can handle the media pressure, but obviously my players can't.

"They have enough experience to deal with big African games, but they still need to get used to playing at the international level."
