Ahli midfielder Ahmed Fathi said that he picked up a metatarsal injury during the 1-0 defeat to Adelaide United on Thursday.

The Egyptian international had to be treated midway in the second half, before completing the game after Ahli completed all their substitutes.

"We still need to undergo further scans to know how bad the injury is," Fathi told reporters after the Adelaide game.

Fathi was already doubtful for the game due to a minor knee bruise as well as a thigh injury, before he was declared fit to start against the Australian outfit.

The Red Devils slumped into their second World Cup defeat against Adelaide, to finish the competition in sixth spot.
