Mahalla through to next round

Ghazl Mahalla reached the Egyptian Cup round of 16 after coming from behind to defeat city rivals Baladeya 2-1 on Wednesday.

Second-division side Baladeya were determined to repeat the feat of Dakhlia and Mansoura, who surprisingly eliminated Premier-League clubs Ismaili and Ittihad respectively.

Baladeya took the lead after 13 minutes, thanks to a goal from Emad Helmi.

But striker Mohamed Salah brought Mahalla level eight minutes before the break.

Salah Soliman ensured Mahalla won't suffer an embarrassing exit after scoring the precious winner in the 61st minute.

Gaish have also booked a last-16 berth after claiming a 2-0 victory over second-division side Abou Qir Fertilizers.

Former Egyptian international Abdul-Sattar Sabri opened the scoring in the 73rd minute and Salah Amin sealed the victory six minutes from time.
