Portsmouth manager Tony Adams is reportedly interested in bringing Real Madrid winger Royston Drenthe to the Premiership club.

The Dutch player, who joined Real from Feyenoord in 2007, has struggled to play regularly under the management of both Fabio Capello and Bernd Schuster.

News of the World reported that Adams is ready to splash out the club's budget on a number of transfers in January including Drenthe.

Portsmouth are currently in a good financial shape, especially after the club sold France midfielder Lassana Diarra to Real Madrid for 20 million Euros.

Pompey are expected to face tough competition over Drenthe's services, as Juventus are also reported to be targeting the player.

The Old Lady are keen to replace ageing Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved, who will be retiring next summer.
