The Spain midfielder was recently quoted as saying that he was interested in the 'challenge' of playing in the Premiership, with big-spenders City mooted as possible suitors.

Senna's impressive displays in Spain's EURO 2008 triumphant campaign has reportedly caught the eye of City manager Mark Hughes.

"I know nothing about everything that is being said and I have not spoken to anyone at Manchester City," the 32-year-old midfielder told Marca on Thursday.

"I have read the same things as everyone else and I do not know where it has come from. I only want to think about Villarreal and helping the team to do well.

"I have read about huge sums of money, but the only thing I want to focus on is playing for my team."

City, who are financially backed by Abu Dhabi United Group, are looking to bolster their squad after a dreadful run of results that saw them slip to 13th place in the Premiership table.
