Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher said that the league games' broadcasting row will be resolved before the upcoming Cairo derby.

Zaher told FilGoal.com that he will be holding a meeting with Ahli president Hassan Hamdi later on Monday to settle the issue ahead of next Sunday's clash.

EFA, Ahli and private satellite channels have earlier reached a temporary settlement allowing channels to broadcast games upon paying Ahli a compensation of EGP 3,400,000.

However, failure to honor such agreement resulted in Ahli's threat to ban satellite channels from broadcasting the derby.

"We will be working on implementing the agreement by talking the satellite channels into paying Ahli an installment of the compensation," Zaher said.

The row over broadcasting rights goes back to when Ahli launched their television channel in August, and demanded to be the sole broadcaster alongside public channels.

The Red Devils' demand wasn’t welcomed by EFA, as it contradicts with the association's ongoing contract with a number of private broadcasters.
