Regionally, the six-time African champions are way ahead of all Arab teams, among which Morocco are the closest to Egypt despite being ranked 41st.

However, Hassan Shehata's men are not the best-ranked African team, as they are trailing CAN 2008 finalists Cameroon by one place.

European champions Spain are still on top, while Germany are ranked second, and Netherlands come third.
